Who I Am
I’ve been playing piano since I was three, singing while I did the dishes with my parents since I was old enough to hold a dish towel, and writing songs (for unrequited crushes) since I was in fourth grade. I love making music, and I couldn’t stop doing it if I tried.
I’ve participated in international piano competitions, sung at the White House, toured internationally with rock bands, and composed music for TV, film, and theater. But I really saw the transformative power of music when I worked with people in need, helping non-musicians write real songs to cope with their struggles with addiction and mental health.
I’ve been a professional songwriter since I was 17. Since then, I’ve written hundreds of songs with indie rock bands, film directors, mothers with Christmas poems but no musical know-how, at-risk youth, theater companies, and my own kids. Notice I say “with” and not “for.” That’s because what I love most is working with people that have something to say, and turning that thing into beautiful poetry and music.
I love playing music that you love, whether that’s old-school Nintendo themes, classical music or classic rock. I play at weddings, karaoke nights, or intimate gatherings, and my favorite part is taking requests that make your most treasured moments even more special.
It’s fun to play music, but it’s magical when that music can touch something special in your life. Whether I’m composing something original for your film, playing your favorite childhood hits at your birthday, or helping you write a love song you’ve always wanted to write, I’m only satisfied when you’re ecstatic - when the music says what’s inside you, and says it right.
